Promoting Perverse Behavior as Normal

Posted by Felicia Fee Benamon On August - 21 - 2007

Tearing……tearing at the decent thread that holds our society together! That is the goal of many in our country…to completely usurp the long-held values that good Americans have held for so long. Whether it is promoting perversity in mainstream American culture, or opposing Christians at every turn, secular forces are busy.

Our nation has experienced blessings from God, Jesus Christ for centuries.  We’ve blessed Him in the past. Now, we are severely lacking in that area. What replaces our lack of respect for God, is perverse in every sense.  When Christians and good folk drop the ball in society something evil takes the place of our lack of effort.

And believe it or not, communism is manifesting itself in various ways in our nation.  It isn’t dead folks; it is only taking on a slyer, more “hip” form to fool the public into accepting it today.  I’ve mentioned in an earlier article that there are many people who want to silence Christians.  They promote the perverse as normal.

On CNN’s Glenn Beck’s website, he lists the 1963 Communist Goals. Communists have infiltrated every area of our lives and are active today to make sure their goals are met. ( http://www.glennbeck.com/news/03212002.shtml ).  Numbers 20-31 on the site accurately describes what we are witnessing in regards to our social and moral slide.

Who misses the days of wholesome family entertainment? With today’s television lineup, you are exposed most to garbage.  And we wonder why our society is messed up. Garbage in, garbage out.

I’m not saying every television program has to be pristine, but standards of decency should be upheld.

For example, CBS is highlighting 2 new shows to debut this fall. One is Moonlight. In a commercial promoting the new show, a vampire who happens to be a private eye, is asked the raunchy question, “Boxers or briefs?” I sat thinking, “how tacky and tasteless can you get?!”

The other CBS fall show is CANE. As I viewed the commercial, I saw much focus put on the violence and internal strife within a Cuban clan, and the conflict between them and their rivals. It left me disgusted that the new shows are dragging in the dirt, so to speak.

And the tawdry new shows aren’t exclusive to CBS.  ABC will debut Pushing Daisies, a show which held a screening at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.  The subject matter…a guy possesses the ability to bring people back from the dead for a minute or so by touch to find out who killed them.  He touches the person again, they are permanently dead.  He is motivated by a private investigator to get the information about each dead person’s killer and to collect the reward.  A bit of romance is thrown in there to make it slightly sappy.

There is barely anything of substance to look forward to this fall. The shows’ themes are decidedly darker, and it’s no coincidence that shows are trending this way. Be aware of what you are watching and who you are giving ratings to.  In a dark world, the last thing I would want to see on my television is more shows with themes of a dark nature.

Christians should be watchful and alert to what is going on today. Do not become tantalized by the secular devices that try to grab our attention.

“You are the salt of the earth…You are the light of the world.”–Matthew 5: 13-16 (NIV)

We cannot be “salt and light” when we are consuming anything contrary to light.

I Don't Recognize My Country Anymore

Posted by Felicia Fee Benamon On August - 13 - 2007

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God…” –2 Timothy 3:1-4 (NIV) As I look more and more at current events happening in our country, and just by watching television even, I become more and more aware of how messed up our country is. We are losing our country bit by bit.

I don’t recognize it anymore…where are our morals?

The above Bible verse accurately describes the current generations living today.  We are living out what the Bible says will happen in the Last Days.  And that is scary.

We are facing an increase in food contamination, terror cells in the US, increasing tensions with Iran, and a possible return to a draft (we are fighting on too many war fronts, please read link at the end of this article), but we continue to revel in our own desires, putting heavy emphasis on ourselves, numb to every warning our nation faces.  One has to wonder that God is just letting it all happen. We have backed away from Him, and have not trusted or looked to Him.  God, Jesus Christ, whom most of us in the US claim to worship, has not been a major part of our lives. So what is He to do?

When we see such disasters befalling our nation, we need to look at where we stand with God. Doesn’t anyone see something is wrong with the direction of our country? We are going down the wrong path.  God won’t bless America until America blesses God. He’s been the source of our strength and prosperity for this long, why would we think he won’t take care of us now?

It’s getting tougher and tougher for Christians who want to share the message of Christ here in the United States. Those who are standing firm in their faith, being bold enough to vocally share it, are facing opposition.  From pastors who openly pray aloud on the street, to our military chaplains, who offer words of encouragement.

We have been considered as a country that is a beacon of hope and freedom for many, a country where the majority of Christians have reached out in Christ-like love to others of different religions to come live among us (granted we be able to share the good story of Jesus Christ and that immigrants assimilate into American culture). We are now undergoing a drastic change in America…there are many people who have a goal to drown out the Christian voice.

Christians in this nation need to wake up from their stupor and realize that the United States is trending more secular and perverse by the minute.  This requires that we take the focus off of the comforts of everyday life and put it back on Jesus Christ, the supplier of all of our blessings. We are not doing that enough. And because we are not focusing on what’s important, we may soon lose what we’ve been blessed with.

I’d hate to see that happen when those who have come before us have sacrificed so much to make America a shining light. It was because of good and faithful men and women who continued to focus on Christ and allow Him to lead their lives, and because of the work of God’s hand that America has been strong. Can I say that for the current citizens of America? I don’t know. Please prove me wrong.

So while many of us are worried about the way we look, pursuing the latest items in fashion, keeping up with the Jones’s, and competing with the Jones’s, our enemies are lining up against us. We should stop the silly stuff and get around to knowing our neighbors and come together for the sake of our nation.

The Bible warns against vanity and selfishness. Why do we continue in this way?

The Reverend Billy Graham is known for leading millions to Christ and advising Presidents. He has been known to lead this nation in prayer during significant events that America has faced.  Shortly after 911, I remember his words that resounded sharply… “We have forgotten God.” I would hope that he would take the podium again in a nationally televised event and sound the alarm about the need for us to return to God. I hope it won’t take another catastrophic event to get people to see the error of our ways.

I hope that Rev. Graham is standing behind our President…offering him advice, advising him to adopt policies that would help the United States instead of hurting it.  America needs Godly people who are willing to tell the truth of our nations’ situation, to act to make it better, and to motivate others to do the same.

But first, let us check our relationship with the Almighty, with Jesus Christ. Through Him is how we will have a positive impact on our society.

Secular America

Posted by Felicia Fee Benamon On August - 1 - 2007

Might as well call it like it is.  Anytime the Senate opens with a Hindu prayer (amidst a protest, mind you) and the consistency to which the media is feeding on the hype of the latest Harry Potter book, it is looking like we are putting God Almighty, Jehovah, whom we are supposed to heavily rely on for our freedom, our health and prosperity, to the background. It’s shocking that a President, who in his first term emphatically mentioned his relationship with Jesus Christ, is pushing an “interfaith” feel with the various religions in this country.  And now, the Senate opens with a Hindu prayer. That got scant attention.  A few dedicated Christians felt the need to rebuke and protest a prayer given by Hindu chaplain Rajan Zed.  The Christians exclaimed that the prayer was “an abomination” and asked Jesus for forgiveness of what was occurring.

In response to the protest, Hindu groups want the candidates running in the 2008 election to rebuke the protesters’ actions!  EXCUSE ME! This is the United States of America; we are free to protest when we feel that we are not being well-represented on Capitol Hill (or anywhere)!

It shows complete disrespect when a prayer is recited in the halls of our government that is not of the Christian faith.  Granted, this hasn’t been the first time that a non-Christian prayer has been recited in the Senate (a Muslim prayer was offered in 1992), but nevertheless, respect should be given to the majority Christians who live in our country.

When people come to the United States, they can be assured that they are free to practice their faith freely, but they must recognize that we are a majority Christian nation, and have prospered well in that way. It is because of the Lord Jesus Christ and His grace and mercy that we have prospered.

We have been content and we have lifted up Jehovah, God Almighty and Jesus Christ for ages, and now, we are taking a different direction. With the increase of the secular trying to intermingle with the Christian faith, or simply with secularism parading around in full scale, we are saying to Jehovah God and Jesus Christ that you are on par with the rest of the gods of this world…we don’t trust you to fully be in control of our lives and this nation, and we will allow other influences in to decide our fate. This is not good.

The very first of the Ten Commandments state: “You shall have no other Gods before me”– Deuteronomy 5:7 (NIV).

Another VERY important commandment Jesus gave to all who love Him: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind”–Matthew 22:37 (NIV).

We get so wrapped up in the things of this world that we forget to put God first. He should be first in everything. “…for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God…”–Exodus 20:21 (NIV).

Showing such fanaticism over the latest Harry Potter book isn’t helping either.Again, I’ve watched the furor over the Harry Potter books and wonder if Americans would display that much adoration for the Lord Jesus Christ.

There are Americans who call themselves Christians who are getting sucked in by the Harry Potter craze.  They are not honoring God, but instead have their interest peaked towards a book that talks of children attending a school for witchcraft and wizardry. Well doesn’t that fly in the face of everything Christians believe in?

“…those who practice magic arts…their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur.”–Revelation 21:8 (NIV)

America is trending more and more secular because of the lack of Christians willing to engage in the political arena and to speak out when they feel secular forces are the norm. Instead people who call themselves Christians are too comfortable dabbling in worldly trends.

In regards to other faiths, as a nation, will we allow ourselves to be swayed by “global” forces who want to determine how we conduct business in the Senate or other areas of our lives? The word “interfaith” brings to mind compromise or intermingling with other faiths. Those are words that should not be synonymous with the way Christians live their lives.

We as a people are either loyal to ONE God or to none! Our forefathers were not inspired by multiple faiths working in sync in this country to make America what it is. They were inspired by Jesus Christ, the God of the Bible.

If we are appreciative of all that our forefathers did to make this country great, shouldn’t we keep up the work and fight to hold on to our values? Will we, as a nation of Christians, pick up the pieces and start back where we left off? Will we honor God by standing bold for Him? Or will we cower?

Schwerpunkt! An Interview with Dr. Stephen Tonsor.

Posted by Bernard Chapin On June - 14 - 2007

A conservative at the point of attack is very much what Dr. Stephen Tonsor was throughout his career in academia and during his time as a cultural and political commentator. Although a legend of rightward intellectual thought, he may be largely unknown to the current generation due to the fact that most of his works, such as Equality, Decadence, and Modernity and Tradition and Reform in Education, predate the arrival of the internet. Some of his articles are available online, however, specifically those he penned for the quarterly, Modern Age. He is a Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Michigan, a school at which he actively taught for many years. He is now 83, but his voice still resonates with passion. When asked, Dr. Tonsor reported being quite content with his life and retirement.

BC: Hello sir, the first thing I’d like to ask is whether or not you think there is a definite connection between religion and conservatism? Is there a correlation between faith and political orientation?

Dr. Stephen Tonsor: Yes, there is a profound connection between religion and conservatism. I think that certainly that has been true of my own life. I was born and raised a Catholic. My great grandfather Tonsor came from Germany basically because for religious reasons. He arrived in 1854 and sailed up the Mississippi river up to Alton, Illinois. The place that I grew up in was intensely Catholic, and, on the whole, I would have to say that our politics was substantially influenced by our religion. This is true not only of my family but also I think for the great bulk of the American people. I have no doubt that those who are religiously committed tend to be politically conservative. Although I should point out that our Catholic influence was not of an exclusively partisan nature. One of my earliest memories is of my father, an early radio enthusiast, placing earphones around my head to enable me to listen to the 1928 Democratic Convention. Do you know why did? Because Al Smith had won the nomination and I don’t have to tell you to what religion he belonged.

BC: In your mind, what historical figures best embodied the conservative spirit? Would Lord Acton be one of them?

Dr. Stephen Tonsor: Certainly Acton. He was exemplary of the conservative spirit and so was Edmund Burke. The interplay between England and America was quite significant. But on the American side alone, I’d have to say that the great figure seems to have been John Adams. My wife’s family all came from England and some of them traveled with Lord Baltimore who was the executor of my wife’s lineal ancestor’s will. They settled in Maryland while the Needhams settled in Massachusetts. They were all very conservative people. Again, here as well, religion played an important role in their views.

BC: Does today’s conservative movement possess any figures similar to the likes of Frank Meyer or Kenneth Templeton?

Dr. Stephen Tonsor: Frank Meyer, now that’s a man I knew very well indeed. He used to visit me and stay at my home. We talked a great deal and he eventually became a convert to Roman Catholicism. I have to say though that he was a very unusual man. Of course, present day conservatives could learn a lot from reading Frank Meyer. Nowadays? Well, I guess we have to talk politics so I must tell you that John McCain is the man that I will support if given a chance. In fact, I’m waiting for a solicitation that will allow me to send him some money. I’m not kidding. He has many characteristics that I admire greatly. I like McCain for his history and for what he’s done. He’s an admirable man and I agree with the stances he takes.

BC: I loved a line you quoted from Lord Acton in one of your essays about how we should always look for the “cloven hoof” in human affairs. How much is that a defining element for conservatives?

Dr. Stephen Tonsor: Well, I think we always do look for the cloven hoof in human affairs. That’s what the real impetus for any line of action will be. What is the intention of the actor? It’s essential to establish this.

BC: Doesn’t another line of Acton’s, “Beware of too much explaining, lest we
end by too much excusing,” have direct application to the fallacies of the left regarding criminology and psychopathology? Can you believe that we’ve reached a point in which people question the fact that evil exists?

Dr. Stephen Tonsor: No, actually I can’t. I have no idea how some people can arrive at that conclusion. I look back over thousands of years of history and see so much consummate evil that I am the last one who needs any convincing. I look at Islam from its foundation by Mohammed all the way up to the present time and I see nothing but evil. Evil, that’s right, that’s the term I’d use to describe it. There’s nothing kindly in their nature. Christianity and western society have always been at war with them. Our conflict with that part of the world even predates Islam. It goes back to Alexander and the Persians, even back to the Spartans. It’s always been that part of the world versus civilized society.

BC: How much are our current political problems in America a result of our own population’s ignorance of history?

Dr. Stephen Tonsor: It’s hard to say how it came about exactly but the evidence is pretty damning. How anybody in the world could vote for Nancy Pelosi is beyond me. Were they not ignoramuses in terms of history they never would have. Oh, I have lived in California a good deal and I am quite familiar with the kind of people who elected her. There’s no question that people don’t know as much history as they did 40 years ago. I can tell you that our department of history at the University of Michigan, the one at which I taught, is completely dominated by Marxists and feminists. The most dominant male professor is a former member of the Communist Party. Supposedly, he is a professor of German history but that man knows as much about German history as I do about the history of Yorkshire. In fact, my knowledge of Yorkshire, of which there is precious little, is undoubtedly superior.

BC: Would you agree with me in saying that the culture war has been lost?

Dr. Stephen Tonsor: No I would not. I don’t agree with you at all. All kinds of people say the same thing to me that you did, but you’re all wrong. The culture war isn’t over. I’m a historian. I’ll wait those people out. You know, what you have to understand is that the universities have always been in a messy condition. The culture war is no more lost today than it was when Cardinal Newman was a student at Oxford before the whole English university system was transformed in the nineteenth century. The culture war is not lost. No, it’s only just beginning. Look, Queen Victoria took up power in 1837 and things were not in good shape back then in England but soon came the entirety of the nineteenth century with the Oxford Reforms, Victoria’s reign, and the return of Catholicism to England. Of course, you won’t be surprised that a German, Victoria’s husband, was directly involved.

BC: Do you foresee a time when the state of irreligiousity in America declines to that of Europe?

Dr. Stephen Tonsor: No, I don’t think that will ever happen. In fact, I think Europe may be on its way back. You know, it’s not an accident that we have a German Pope now. I was so impressed with Benedict the other day. He just rode along in the Popemobile and paid no attention to that man who rushed him. Seeing that on television was impressive and quite extraordinary. My own memories of Rome and the Papacy go all the way back to Eugenio Pacelli. I saw him in person. I was there in Rome as the crowds went wild over him. Women were crying, tossing their hats in the air, and yelling his name. Luckily for me, my Catholicism is of the quieter variety.

BC: Thanks so much for your time, Dr. Tonsor.

Pure Lunacy! More Global Warming Madness and First Amendment Attacks

Posted by Felicia Fee Benamon On May - 7 - 2007

Could we get any more idiotic than this? The designation of July 4th, our Independence Day as “Energy Independence Day”!  Have I missed something? Has the Global Warming fanaticism hit SO hard that now we direct attention away from one of our most patriotic days celebrated in our nation to declare our allegiance to… “Mother Earth”?

“Energy Independence Day” is the term Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) coined as she intends to push through the Democrats’ Global Warming agenda around or on the 4th of July! It’s gone so far that there is now a new House committee known as the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.

Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA), the chair of the committee is so serious about climate change that he saw it as a matter of national security.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi stated that Global Warming is “one of humanity’s greatest challenges.”

Read more: http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewCulture.asp?Page=/Culture/archive/200704/CUL20070426a.html

I guess combating the huge problem of International terrorism has fallen off the map with some people as being among the most important issues facing our country.

It should be the case that politicians are willing to consult a variety of scientists with different perspectives on the issue of Global Warming before releasing absurd statements like those above, and before pushing through unnecessary legislation.

As one can see from the comments from our politicians, the job of the Global Warming crowd is to alarm the populace, not to inform them of in depth information about changes that are occurring to our Earth.

Until there is an overwhelming consensus in the scientific community suggesting that our Earth is in DIRE need for a reverse in the course we are going currently, I do not believe such “committees” are worth the time and energy of Congress.

The House could very well focus their energy on sending the President an effective war funding bill for our troops instead of going gaga over how we must save the Earth.

Leave the 4th of July alone, as a day we pause to celebrate our nation’s Independence and to appreciate all that America is. It is a patriotic day. It’s not a day to “go green.”

More Lunacy!

As the news flows in, I wonder… could there be anything more insane than using July 4th to promote environmental issues?  Well, yes, I’ve found it.

An absurd “Hate Crimes” bill or The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act passed the House on Thursday. H.R. 1592

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c110:H.R.1592 ) adds more teeth to law enforcement to go after so-called “hate crimes”.  Many feel that it also includes speech against the subject of homosexuality.

Christian leaders like Bishop Harry Jackson said the bill:

“…threatens religious leaders’ right to preach against homosexuality by including sexual orientation and gender identity as characteristics that can be subjected to hate.”

As a black man of the Christian faith, he said “the inclusion of sexuality is insulting to blacks, because original hate crimes legislation aimed at protecting people who were attacked because of their race, while new legislation would include a characteristic he believes is a chosen behavior.”

President Bush does not see the need to sign the bill as he has said that states across the country already have laws against “hate crimes”.

Read more: http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewPolitics.asp?Page=/Politics/archive/200705/POL20070503e.html

Here’s my thought on “hate crimes”… If you attack ANYONE, (I’m talking physically) regardless of race, religion, etc., it is ALREADY designated as a crime. There’s no need to attach the “hate” wording to it. Someone who attacks someone maliciously without provocation is doing so out of hatred for that person,  that’s a crime.  Surely everyone has heard of assault.  Therefore the word “hate crime” just makes no sense. A crime is a crime.

Homosexuals should not be afforded protection status from those who disagree with how they live their life.  Everyone should be looked upon as equal, having equal protection under the law. Gays are not to be put in a special category for protection.

Threatening ANYONE regardless of sexual preference shouldn’t be tolerated.  As a Christian, I am to love those who sin, and show them the way to God…to let those who practice the homosexual lifestyle know that it is a sin in the sight of God and I disagree with the lifestyle homosexuals lead. And it’s not wrong to have an opinion and to share with someone what the Bible says about homosexuality. Especially since there are those who are pushing the lifestyle in society as if it were normal.

“Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.”–Leviticus 18:22 (NIV)

Homosexuality is a perversion in the sight of God.  He created man and woman.  Why would God introduce Eve to Adam if He didn’t intend for the two to bond and come together as man and wife?  The family structure from the beginning of time consisted of man and wife.

President Bush has threatened to veto H.R. 1592, but it should never see the President’s desk. Christians and freedom loving people need to make their voices heard… stand up and demand your leaders vote against it in the Senate!:

Senate: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

House of Representatives: http://www.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml

President Bush:  comments@whitehouse.gov

Banning the words “mom” and “dad”?!

The homosexual indoctrination continues… this time from the California State Assembly!! They plan to “ban references to ‘mom’ and ‘dad’ in public schools” in California.  This helps the homosexual community feel right at home, preventing the use of “mom” and “dad” would “reflect adversely” on those who practice homosexuality.

Click here to see the story and more outrageous “proposals” regarding homosexual indoctrination:

http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=55413

This is just an example of more pressure coming from the homosexual groups/lobbyists like the Gay-Straight Alliance Network to force their agenda in California schools…it’s disgusting, and it’s happening in states other than California!

We wonder why our children are not doing well in school. Sometimes it is the schools that are failing our children! They are being bombarded by filth from groups willing to push their agenda on children as young as kindergartners when they should be taught the basics that has been in school curricula for years. The 3 r’s…reading, ‘riting, and ‘rithmetic has never failed.

Do you want to see more of this America? Just continue to remain silent and watch it get worse. Every American citizen has a job to do, and that’s to uphold our freedoms to disagree.

Wars may rage in other countries around the world, but I don’t know of any other country that’s under assault like the United States is currently by radicals who want to seize control of how you live your life through the courts and enacting needless legislation.

Let’s just hope that Christians aren’t going to wake up one day and realize that speaking their mind on certain issues will cost them a pretty penny, or worse.

What has happened to America? It’s truly time to be proactive.

Don’t ever forget about the creed we live by as mentioned in the Declaration of Independence:  ”…that among these are life, liberty (freedom), and the pursuit of happiness.”  Not ”the pursuit of agendas/causes and indoctrination.”

Against America

Posted by Felicia Fee Benamon On March - 13 - 2007

America is and has been flirting with danger.  Our country is suffering from a slow death from within. All one has to do is look around to the constant onslaught of far left secular and progressive activism aimed at destroying the traditions of Americans. The veracity to which this is being carried out is in tune to communism, atheistic, and anti-American beliefs.  It’s everywhere it seems.

So many examples of this have occurred recently that I can barely keep up.  Anti-Americanism has even seeped into the comic strips.  Captain America, a classic American icon in the comic book world has drawn his last breath, for now at least. It’s particularly telling how he dies. The iconic hero is shot down by a sniper as he leaves a courthouse. It’s not a particularly noble way to die.

In Captain America’s heyday, he was known for kicking some communist and Nazi butt, now; he’s been removed from the comic scene.  Such an admired American comic hero, who has been around since 1941, is no longer.

This may seem like a minute detail in the fight to drag down America, but it is a further example of how attitudes towards America have changed.  All one needs to do is read between the lines.

Christianity and traditions related to the faith continue to suffer attacks. If it weren’t the recent insidious mention that Jesus’ tomb and coffin has been found, add these headlines to the list:

  • The United States Mint Pressroom:  United States Mint Unveils Designs of New Circulating Presidential $1 Coins …Historic Change On The Way ( http://www.usmint.gov/pressroom/index.cfm?flash=yes&action=press_release&ID=722 ) ”In God We Trust” has been systematically removed off the face of the new $1 Presidential coins and instead, put on the edge of the coins.  God is now being pushed to the outside edge of our currency. Disgraceful. Many conservatives, who found out about the new coins, share my view in that regard. Because of the Presidential Coin Act of 2005, the coins will feature 4 presidents a year, until the year 2016. So the goal of the US Treasury is to push these coins in mass quantity on the general public, a flawed bunch of coins in my opinion. It remains to be seen if the public will take to them or brush them aside.
  • Walter Cronkite endorses Campaign to Force Christianity out of U.S. Public Life : US “First Amendment First” Campaign Targets Churches, Religious Groups ( http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2007/feb/07022803.html ).  I guess some view the influence of conservatives or the “religious right” as a threat. And that requires some restraints on the church or conservatives to be politically involved. They forget, we are Americans also, and have a right to freedom of speech. No one complains when Democrats use churches as their political pulpit, but let a conservative start talking about social issues that affect our nation, people are ready to scream.
  • 9th Circuit endorses censoring Christians: Ruling says ‘family values’ is hate speech that scares city workers ( http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=54587 ). This ruling is so absurd; it’s not really worth commenting on. Just tell me how “family values”,”marriage”, and “natural family” cause someone to freak out?! This is unnecessary!
  • Chaplain who prayed ‘in Jesus’ name’ to fight: Says he wants to return to Navy to worship according to conscience ( http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=54517 ). As he SHOULD be able to do! If our own troops are being targeted for praying in Jesus’ name, what does that say about our society? Our troops fight and die for our freedom of religion. Shall we not honor that and allow them to pray as they have done always?
  • School prayer: Suspensions grab national attention ( http://www.newhouse.com/controversy-over-school-prayer-suspensions-grabs-national-attention.html ). Students, who gathered in a well populated area to pray, defying school administrators, are suspended!  Their intent was to bless the school, and instead, they are met with a hassle.  This all goes back to freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Speech that surely did not infringe on another person’s rights, it was positive in nature. If anti-war activists can spew hateful speech about our nation, then surely high school students can gather and say a prayer lifting up the President, this nation, and their school.

  •  WND: Historic Jamestown marks 400 years since ‘invasion’: ‘Celebration’ banned as events condemn ‘holocaust’ that resulted  ( http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=54603 ).  America’s early settlers DID NOT “invade” this country or intend to cause mass suffering of any race.  Their intention was to live free of oppression themselves. We should celebrate EVERYTHING, the good and bad of what has been a part of our nation’s history. Because without those birth pains, our nation wouldn’t be as great as it has become.

Some argue that America is defined by her diversity. No, America is defined by our traditions, what we’ve held dear for hundreds of years. And all that is being challenged by secular left forces. We can still be a diverse nation, but a nation that doesn’t neglect or forget where we come from.  We need to be a nation that respects each other’s religion, race, and background…being proactive in uniting under one banner, that we are all Americans. The answer is not to be engaged in trying to alter our nation’s history of Christianity or attacking the beliefs of a majority of Americans who believes in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Those who see America as the evil one has not appreciated the luxuries of living in this great nation. Nothing is for free, nothing comes without sacrifice. The evident anti-Americanism is shameful and I wonder why people who hate this country would want to tear at it so much instead of living somewhere where they are comfortable with their beliefs. I surmise it is because they feel they can get away with it here and not elsewhere. But that all needs to stop.

So is America in the throes of death, or is there hope? Time will tell as concerned Americans become increasingly aware of the activities of the far left crowd and find their voice again.  One such way we will know is by the noise many Americans will make at the Vietnam Memorial this Saturday, March 17, 2007, as they stand by our heroes who’ve fought to keep our land free. Americans will stand up for the right to keep our rights intact during the Gathering of Eagles event.

But following the Gathering of Eagles event, let us remain vigilant and outspoken. Let the majority remain active to counter the minority rogue group of leftists who seek to wreck our country from within. They seek to change our nation to fit their standards…and those standards are not inclusive for Christians, for one. And that’s not what America is about.

It’s time the majority stood up and showed the world who we are.

Selling Untruths

Posted by Felicia Fee Benamon On March - 3 - 2007

Hollywood continues in its attempt to shove untruths down our throats. But it all depends on whether or not the American public ingests the lies or not.

James Cameron, director of the famed Titanic film has joined the list of those who continue in their pursuit to disprove the deity of Jesus Christ. In his documentary to air on the Discovery Channel March 4th, (called The Lost Tomb of Jesus) Cameron claims that he has found the place where Jesus was buried, that he has found the coffins of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and son Judah.  Christians FIRMLY believe that Jesus was entombed, but wrapped in a burial cloth and not enclosed in some coffin!  Christians believe Christ rose from the dead, and now sits at the right hand side of The Father.  Jesus is God’s Son.

I haven’t heard of such disrespect of the Christian faith since Ron Howard’s The Da Vinci Code made it’s debut, and what is even more disgusting is that both Cameron and Howard make mention that Jesus was married and had a son.

The Da Vinci Code film was more of a fictional conspiracy- type film, where viewers were not to think that any of the film’s messages were true. However, it could have easily planted a seed in a person’s mind to start thinking, “What if?”

Cameron’s film however uses an archaeological site supposedly to prove his claim.  But even archaeologists aren’t buying it.

Amos Kloner, an Israeli archaeologist told the BBC that, “the names marked on the coffins were very common at the time.”

When the tomb was discovered, Kloner was one of the first people to investigate.

He says, “I don’t accept the news that it was used by Jesus or his family.”

“The documentary filmmakers are using it to sell their film.”

Why of course they are!  Cameron definitely is pushing this film for the sake of dollars and not for integrity’s sake.

He exclaims, “It doesn’t get bigger than this.”

“We’ve done our homework; we’ve made the case; and now it’s time for the debate to begin,” says Cameron.

He obviously HASN’T done his “homework” when there are those from the scientific community who are debunking his outrageous claims. It’s just another attempt to railroad Christianity.

As if there wasn’t anything else that borders on such trickery and outrageousness to come to light…get ready for Al Gore.  Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth won for Best Documentary at the Oscars this past week.

Gore panders to the radical environmentalists and the left, because the average American citizen isn’t listening.  There have been too many people in the scientific community to stand up and debunk the Global Warming theory, many of whom end up being shunned for having a differing opinion. There are those that believe that human activity may somewhat contribute to Global Warming, but not on a scale to suggest that the earth is in extreme danger.  Of course, we as humans are living on this earth, we are sure to affect it in some way.  And on a grand scale, the earth is always warming and cooling, according to climatologist Dr. Timothy Ball, PhD., of Winnipeg, CA.

“There is no doubt warming has occurred since approximately 1680 the nadir of the Little Ice Age. However warming has also generally occurred since the major ice sheets started to melt about 18,000 years ago. In between there have been periods of cooling, the most recent from 1940 to 1980, hence the concern about cooling at that time. The mistake was in assuming the trend would continue. The fact is the climate changes all the time so you can pick any period you want to argue it was cooling or warming,” says Ball.

In Al Gore’s view, Global Warming is worthy of the hype and frantic calls for help that permeate his movie.  Funny thing is, if the former Vice President wanted to purvey to the public a sense of emergency regarding the Global Warming issue, wouldn’t he make an effort also to set an example?

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Al Gore’s Tennessee mansion “consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year.”  Gore’s excuse to that? He uses renewable energy sources as well.

Sorry Al, but you are still using an astronomical amount of energy. If politicians are going to buy into the Global Warming hype, they should stop rolling around in SUVs, flying in their private jets, and using an insane amount of energy, and start practicing what they preach.

Bottom line, there are those who are trying through all odds to change society’s way of thinking on specific controversial subjects. Logic isn’t in the equation with them, it is purely propaganda meant to sell the public “their” way of thinking.

And rational thinking people need not buy into the madness.
